Dean Calcagni, M.D.

Leader of Multidisciplinary Medical Research Teams
For 18 years Dr. Calcagni led multidisciplinary medical research teams at the United States Army Medical Research and Development Command. After retiring from Active Duty with the rank of Colonel, Dr. Calcagni applied his experience leading multidisciplinary medical research teams first at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, then in industry, and finally forming his own consulting group, Medical Red Team.
As a board-certified anesthesiologist, Dr. Calcagni maintained a clinical practice part time at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and was an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He served as a reviewer for many Federal medical research proposal review panels.
Dr. Calcagni has a B.S. in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received his M.D. from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in anesthesiology at the Letterman Army Medical Center and a critical care research fellowship at the Stanford University Medical Center.
